There is nothing you can do to make God love you more. No striving will increase His love, no perfection will impress him, no performance can move the needle on the Infinite.
There is nothing you can do to make God love you less. No darkness of sin can blot out His grace. No matter how far you run, or how much you hate yourself, his delight and compassion await your surrender.
Your worth is a fixed value in the heart of God, unchanging as He is. This truly is good news.
The quality of your life can and should be judged. The way to value a company is to look to its profit. The way to value the quality of your life is to look to your virtues. Your character determines the quality and impact of your life.
The most valuable life is one of faith, honesty, purity, love, courage, and knowledge. You can assess anyone's life and their true value to the world by their depth of character, not status, fortune, or achievement.
If you truly have virtue you won't be consumed with judging others, your focus will be on what you can control–your own choices.
So then, seek God's help to grow seeds of righteousness every day, growing into great oaks of righteousness over the slowness of time. All you need is consistent surrender to God's love, to seek to serve others, and to follow God's direction with courage and joy.
Quotes
"The less time you spend examining things the less you know about them. When it comes to understanding how you spend your life, it's important to slow down and take the time."
Ryder Carroll, The Bullet Journal Method
"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
the oil of joy
and a garment of praise
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor."
Isaiah 61:1-3, NIV
Questions
What is your focus? External things or people out of your control, or your own responsibilities, growth and purpose?
In what ways is your investment into growing in virtue paying off?
Isn't it time to laugh with God and accept your own worth?
(Use these questions as a journal prompt and to guide your prayers this week)
Endnote
Your virtue is like the moon and best reflects God's brilliant light. Invest in virtue with joy.
Live wisely,
Josh
